Pop Up Choir – Canberra

Pop Up Choir is now back singing in a safe, socially distanced way. I have split the choir into smaller groups, and I am now taking expressions of interest for a NEW TUESDAY 5:45pm CLASS.

Pop Up Choir is a great bunch of people coming together to sing a great bunch of songs, led by choral director Rachel Hore OAM. Some of us are experienced singers, many have never tried singing in a choir before, or have little experience.

You don’t need to audition to come to the Pop Up Choir. Take the step and plunge in. It’s fun, moving and inspiring. New singers are always welcome.

We perform at various events in and around Canberra. Performances include concerts – we have sung at the High Court of Australia, the Museum of Australian Democracy, Parliament House and ANU –  as well as various pop-up performances at places like the National Folk Festival, Majors Creek Festival, conferences, fetes and markets.

When: Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Term 4, 2020, 9-week term beginning 13/15 October

Place: St Peters Lutheran church, Reid ACT

Address: 6 Boolee St (opposite Canberra Centre, Cnr Cooyong and Boolee St.)

Tuesday late session: 7:15pm – 8:30pm
Thursday early session: 5:45pm – 7:00pm
Thursday late session:  7:15pm – 8:30pm

Cost: 9-week term upfront $165 (full)/ $135 (conc)
(Concession price is for students, low income/pension and concession card holders)

Contact: Send me an email using the contact form.

Our current COVID safety plan:  The Pop Up Choir has only recently returned to singing. We have reduced the numbers in the venue to a max of 28 people, and split into separate sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Our hall has a lovely resonance, and we have found that we can still find confidence singing socially distanced 2 metres apart. Just for now, we are singing for a shorter time, without our usual tea break. The space is well ventilated and we are cleaning before and after the rehearsals.
