Singing and walking in the Kosciuzko National Park

Charlotte Pass NSW

DATES: Sunday 31 Jan to Sunday 7 Feb

After such a difficult year for all of us, I invite you to restore and replenish yourself in a week of singing and walking in the beautiful Australian Alps. Join Rachel for daily singing workshops (small and Covid safe) followed by stunning Alpine walks and beautiful home cooked meals in the Lodge at the end of the day. Staff on this week also include Jo Cresswell and Dave O’Neill who I run the French Alps walking tours with. Jo has been visiting this region for decades and has great local knowledge.

This tour is a small group (max 20 singers) and limited to NSW and ACT residents only.

Accommodation

Our accommodation for the week is Southern Alps Ski Club at Charlotte Pass Village in Kosciuzko National Park. It is a delightful old ski lodge with a large dining/lounge area, a quiet lounge library room, a TV room and balconies. There are stunning views looking toward the mountains and down the valley.

Your accommodation will be in twin or double share rooms with ensuites. Single rooms are also available at an additional cost of $200 for the week. The lodge supplies pillows and blankets. You will need to bring your own linen and towels. The lodge has a laundry room and free wi-fi.

Please note you will also need to be able to carry your own bags up the steep stairs to the lodge.

Meals

Dave will be our chef extraordinaire for our scrumptious dinners and the first lunch for the week. He is able to cater to standard, vegetarian, gluten free and keto diets. Please note you will need to bring your own supplies for breakfasts and lunches, wine, and snacks. We will supply teas, coffee and biscuits. We have a cool room and fridge available for your supplies.

The Singing

Depending on what Covid guidelines are in place for choirs in February 2021, we intend to be as Covid safe as possible. I have had great success with my choir recently practicing social distancing while singing and I feel it has made each of us stronger and more confident singers. Our daily singing sessions will include learning beautiful new songs in 3-4 part harmony and developing pitch, rhythm, sight-reading and body percussion.

The Walking

As well as singing our days will include guided walks led by Jo Cresswell. The walks will be anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours with a picnic lunch on the longer walks. The walking is hilly and you need to be fit. One day we will leave mostly free so that if you want to drive down to Jindabyne (45 min drive) for some shopping or sightseeing or have a day to do your own thing, you can.

Spaciousness!

We won’t plan your every moment, so come prepared to enjoy some hours every day reading, playing cards, drawing, meditating, doing yoga, songwriting, or whatever your leisure time pick is.
