Pictured above: Irene Nangala with Rachel Hore at Big Sing in the Desert, 2017. Irene is a beautiful strong singer from the Papunya to Kintore region of NT. Currently living in Alice Springs, she came to the Big Sing for the first time last year with three other singers from the Purple House - a wonderful organisation set up to support Western Desert Dialysis. https://www.westerndesertdialysis.com

Our singing community raised the funds to get them there.

Please help to bring up to 50 Indigenous singers to Big Sing in the Desert.

Sponsor an Indigenous Singer

SPONSORSHIPS are NOW OPEN

Each year hundreds of people across Australia become sponsors to support Indigenous singers to attend the BIG SING in the Desert.

Donate $30 or more, which will directly fund the transport, accommodation and workshop costs for our sponsored singers. Some of our Indigenous singers will be travelling over 700 kms to attend the event. We are expecting singers from Areyonga, Alice Springs, Hermannsburg, Papunya, Titjikala, Mutijulu and Docker River communities, and the word is spreading!

Our aim is to raise $20,000 which will support the costs of up to 50 Indigenous singers to attend. We cannot hold this event without your help. Please help us to get people there.

As a sponsor you’ll receive a link to photos and footage of Big Sing 2018.

Big Sing new connections

We hope to bring four Worimi Elders from the Great Lakes District in NSW to Big Sing in the Desert., 2018. In September 2017, Rachel taught at Big Sing by the Sea in Forster, NSW. Worimi Elder Auntie Janice Paulson said: “It was really great to see black and white people singing in harmony and a joy to see how Rachel brought everyone’s voices together. It was inspiring and so easy to learn from her.

Worimi Gumbaynggirr Elder Auntie Lyn Davis said: “There was something special in the room – a spiritual connection that touched everyone and brought us closer together – we became one community.”

Having made this inspiring connection they are keen to attend Big Sing in the Desert in 2018 so that they can experience the musical traditions of Aboriginal desert culture.
